Attorney Kyle D. Hoffman
Kyle is an experienced education and nonprofit attorney who currently serves as in-house legal counsel for a Michigan Intermediate School District, a role he has held for more than twelve years. In this capacity, he provides comprehensive legal guidance to the ISD and its constituent districts on a wide range of matters, including general school law, governance, transactional issues, labor and employment, special education, student discipline, Title IX compliance, and day-to-day operational concerns. His work emphasizes practical, solution-oriented counsel that helps educational organizations remain compliant, manage risk, and move initiatives forward effectively.
Kyle brings more than eighteen years of experience in K-12 education and previously spent five years in municipal economic development, giving him a strong understanding of public sector operations and community-focused organizations. In addition to his work with school systems, he provides legal services to Michigan-based and national nonprofit organizations with a presence in the state and has extensive experience developing, writing, and administering grant programs. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public and Nonprofit Administration, a Master of Public Administration, and a Juris Doctor. He earned his law degree while working full time and attending law school nights and weekends. He also maintains a Michigan School Administrator Certificate with central office endorsement.
Kyle is actively engaged in his community and has served on several nonprofit boards, including his current role as a member of the local YMCA board. His family’s strong connection to public education—his wife is a school administrator in Southeast Michigan and they have two school-aged children—deepens his commitment to supporting schools and mission-driven organizations. Known for his collaborative approach and focus on getting things done, Kyle works closely with clients to develop practical solutions that support their long-term success.
